Revival of 2024’s successful WORLD PREMIERE of the FIRST EVER Armenian language production of Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL, adapted for the stage and directed by Aramazd Stepanian. Based on the translations of Tovmas Samuelian and Armine Asryan (Eastern Armenian) and N.G. Kondaian’s 1928 Western Armenian translation, edited and updated by Gerald Papasian.
The story: Ebenezer Scrooge is a mean, money grabbing old man, who hates everyone and everything, including Christmas and its celebration, which he calls “Bah! Humbug!“, or in Armenian “Barbajank“.
Then one Christmas Eve, a ghost appears to him! It is that of Jacob Marley, his former partner, who had died exactly seven years ago on the same night. He is wrapped in heavy chains, and warns Scrooge that if he doesn’t change his ways, he too will be condemned to carry chains on him and wander around the earth for all eternity! And the only way to save his soul would be to follow three more ghosts, who will visit him over the next three nights.
