Bernarda Albayi Doone

June 28 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm PDT

$20 – $40

In a Spanish village during the 1930s, Bernarda Alba governs her household and her five unmarried daughters, along with various servants, with strict authority. She claims her rigorous rules are intended to protect the family’s virtue and honor. Bernarda is deeply committed to preserving their reputation and maintaining their esteemed position as the village’s leading family. However, her daughters both the still young and the somewhat older ones are increasingly stifled by their unfulfilled dreams and desires. Their frustration grows further when, upon the death of their father, Bernarda decrees that they must observe an eight-year mourning period. This regulation is especially poignant given that the most eligible young man in the village has recently shown significant interest in one of Bernarda’s daughters’ although there seems to be confusion which, and more than one daughter is interested in him heightening their emotional turmoil and longing.
